What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle natural alternative healing method that accentuates the healing process and promotes a deep sense of relaxation and sense of well being through the use of energy that releases blocks and stressors in your life. Reiki enhances and balances energy flow in your body, our bodies are in a constant state of maintaining balance. Natural healing takes place from this relaxed clear state.
Reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan in the early 1900’s but has been practiced for thousands of years. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy.” Reiki is a very specific form of energy healing, in which the practitioners hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body as , as in “laying of the hands”. Reiki is for anyone wishing to enhance well being. Numerous scientific studies have validated that Reiki treatments can shorten recovery times after surgery or injury, lower resting heart rate and blood pressure, and impart feelings of peace and calm.
Reiki is the energy that connects our higher self with everything around us. All living things are infused with energy, this energy permeates our bodies.

What occurs during a Reiki session?
A Reiki session lasts approximately an hour. During the session you will remain fully clothed with a blanket over you so do not dress to warmly. The Reiki Practitioner will gently rest her hands on areas of the body which include the head, shoulders, abdomen, arms, hands, legs, and feet. A sense of warmth from the practitioners hands is common and clients often describe a feeling of deep relaxation.
